Auto Club Offering "Tipsy Tow" Service on 4th of July

If you plan on drinking this holiday weekend, but you're also driving, you have options to avoid getting behind the wheel.

One is courtesy of the Automobile Club of Southern California. It's offering a free Tipsy Tow service this Fourth of July holiday. It runs from 6 p.m. Thursday to midnight on Friday.

The service is restricted to a one-way, one-time ride for the driver to that person's residence.

You can call 1-800-400-AAA for the free tow.

Carlsbad Welcomes PlayWerx!

Java Mama, Playhouse Cafe, and Chick-fil-A have been great hang-outs for moms and thier kids, and now another indoor play area has made my list! Word is spreading quickly, making for some other happy campers up here in Carlsbad! I have been praying for a place like PlayWerx, and my dream come true just at the beginning of the month! Playwerx offers a marriage of the fun exercise offered by a modern play structure, and a coffee shop, inviting folks to either sit in peace or hang out and socialize while their kids are occupied having a blast!

What do these wonderful places all have in common? They give parents a BREAK! We are afforded the opportunity to not be on our toes chasing our kids down non-stop! Yes, we are still "on" at Playwerx, but we are surrounded by walls (one is a roll-up to offer cool breeze and natural light) and only one exit, which is a huge comfort. We have the "playground" in front of us, the action in our viewing range, as we sip our coffee or read a magazine article. Nothing like taking care of a list of phone calls, reading the paper, or writing thank you letters! It is the little things we appreciate, and knowing that our kids are having a blast while we treat ourselves is a what we need sometimes. Parents, we hope to see you there, as PlayWerx is about to become one of our homes away from home!

I was out walking with my 4-year-old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

"Why?" my daughter asked.

"Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs," I replied.

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, "Momma, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart." I was thinking quickly.

"All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mom."

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.

"OH...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad."

"Exacty," I replied with a big smile on my face.

Go See Six Mile Cross at the Fifth Annual Fallbrook Relay For Life Event

Our friends' band called Six Mile Cross is playing this Saturday at the Fifth Annual Fallbrook Relay for Life event. These cool parents, Anders and Stephanie, are part of a very impressive classic rock and blues band that plays covers of some great songs, and I must say that they are pretty dang good! And this mama, Stephanie, can wail!!! You owe it to yourself to go check them out!

This is a two-day event with lots of activities and bands, a Kids' Zone, food, etc., and it's free! Six Mile Cross will be playing on the stage at the stadium at Fallbrook High School from 5:30 - 7 pm on Saturday.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with The Children’s Place Retail Stores Inc., today announced a voluntary recall of Camouflage Pajama Sets. This recall involves long- and short-sleeved pajama sets. The sets have a blue shirt with a red screen print that reads “Athletics 90” and coordinating camouflage pants. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
