Events Around the Corner that Moms will Love

Wanna try something fun to break up the monotony of playing kiddie taxi driver five times a day?

When you are all jammin' to your kids' favorite kiddie tunes in the car (and you have stopped at a light), look for a hard core rock lover in the traffic that is playing drums on his dashboard or playing the guitar in the air (and you will spot one or two), then turn up your music!  Point out to the kids that must be a big fan of Hannah Montana, too.  It is hilarious (especially when tatood guys or surfers appear to be banging their heads to your Barney or Tinky Winky), but please watch the road!

Mark your calendars for the Children’s Book Party on April 26th at Balboa Park.  Everything is FREE!  There will be free entertainment, light refreshments, and each kiddo will go home with a couple of FREE books.  Click here for more information.

15th Annual Spring Fantasy Luncheon – “A Mom for All Seasons” - Benefiting The Parent Connection

Sunday, April 27, 2008
10:30am – 2:00pm
Doubletree Hotel – Mission Valley

This year’s theme: “A Mom For All Seasons,” promises a fantastic afternoon of delicious cuisine, lively auction and guest speaker, Catherine Garcia, NBC 7/39 News Reporter. We are positive that this year’s event will be a memorable one with Susan Taylor, NBC 7/39 News Anchor serving as our Mistress of Ceremony!

Last year’s event raised just over $13,750 in net proceeds to directly support our educational programs and activities that have proven essential to our membership. This year’s net proceeds will also fund these same vital programs, as well as, help fund The Parent Connection Community Resource Fund, which aids families in crisis and Madison’s Fund, which assists families who have lost a child.

The Parent Connection is a parent support group associated with Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. We are a not-for-profit organization with a limited budget, reaching out to more than 3,500 families throughout San Diego County. Parents rely on support from our organization from the time their babies are born through the pre-school and kindergarten years. Membership in The Parent Connection is open to all San Diego families.

My 8 yr. old just loves Hannah Montana. I suggest your readers read this blog entry and just consider how quick our society is to have sex sell. She is a 15 year old and the industry is already gotten to her, as protective as her folks seemed, they are loosing it, I say! Anyone else just as bothered? Sad.

I have to say that I am disappointed that Mylie's parents have dropped the ball. Every pose is captured by polaroids and evaluated by Annie L., the people around the celebrity and by the family or inner circle. Everyone, knowingly, signed on because they wanted to sell Mylie. The girl is 15. Mature or not..there was no point in putting her in those poses. If this was the way to segue her into the next phase of her career, then there are a lot of folk who can only think "formula" and not what is in the best interest of this child. Having seen what has happened to Britney, Lindsay, and the rest, why is it that Hollywood can only wake up to and smell the scent of money not decency and the protection of minors? In short, Mary C., I am just as bothered.
